Undoubtedly, the charm of Champoluc’s apres ski is its unspoilt traditional alpine atmosphere. There are plenty of bars within easy walking distance from all our hotels. Some are pretty lively and will stay open into the wee hours. Most though are small, relaxed locations where good wine and comfy surroundings can be found to relive the days adventures. Kondor, at the bottom of the pistone piste and next door to our ski deposit is a great place for the that first drink as you come off the slopes, and the Lo Bistrot, opposite our office is famous for that apres ski spritz. After supper the Golosone gets going, be warned though of the strength of the negronis!
For those guests wishing to venture out for an evening meal Champoluc has a large choice of restaurants. Some of our favourites are Il Balivo, La Grange, Brasserie du Breithorn and the Petit Coq. For an evening adventure then you can take a snowcat or skidoo from the top of the gondola to places like L’Aroula or the Belvedere. For that special occasion then a ride up to the restaurant at Hotellerie Mascognaz is a wonderful night out.
There is an abundance of super eating places to found in all 3 valleys. From a quick snack of pasta or a focaccia, to a full blown ‘Italian’ lunch. We include a lunch ‘voucher’ for each days skiing to all Ski Champoluc guests. This can be exchanged for a pasta / beer or wine or any choice of a snack lunch.
We have our own dedicated Ski Hire and Ski Deposit. Both are located at the entrance to the main Gondola and at the bottom of the Pistone piste that comes back into the village.
Our ski hire carries a large stock of Standard, Superior and Prestige skis. We always have a stock of the latest models of either Volkl or Rossignol skis. We are open from 8am until 6pm daily. We can also open later for those arriving in resort late if required.
To the rear of the building there are shower and changing facilities for those departing for late flights and wishing to ski until the last minute.
All equipment is available to pre book prior to your holiday.
Our ski deposit, exclusive to Ski Champoluc guests is also at the bottom of the main piste into the village. Skis and boosts are stored overnight so need for carrying equipment back to hotels. The use of our deposit is included in the holiday package.
The local ski school have some great English speaking instructors. We can book lessons for you and make sure you get the instructor for your needs.
Group lessons for beginners run for 5 days, from 10am to 12 noon. Intermediate lessons also run for 5 days but from 10am to 1245pm. Private lessons are available but pre booking is advisable.
Some of the instructors are also qualified mountain guides and can be booked for half or full days. This is a great way to explore the Monterosa off piste and brush up on your powder skills!
‘An amazing day out with one of Champoluc’s acclaimed mountain guides.’
What better way to explore the pistes and off piste of the Monterosa ski Area. Famous for the off piste runs that run from either the top of Bettaforca down to Stafal or the amazing runs from the top of Punta Indren.
Punta Indren is the highest lift point in the area at 3,275m. Here is the start of the Monterosa Freeride area. You can ski the Canale dell’ Aquila back into Gabiet or, take a traverse and ski the hidden Colle della Salsa valley, a long, winding off piste valley that finishes in Stafal. One of the favourites, and not ot be missed is La Balma, starting at Indren and skiing down to Alagna – over 2000 vertical metres!!
We can book one of the local guides, most being born and brought up in Champoluc. Please enquire for more details.
One of the best areas in Europe for those looking for this truly amazing experience. Obviously subject to weather and snow conditions there are some of the best descents in Europe. There are many routes. The classic is a descent from Porta Nera at a height of 3,734, past the Breithorn and on down the long Schwarz Glacier into Zermatt. A quick lunch and then back up to the Cime Bianche using the Zermatt / Cervina ski lifts. From here there is a long descent back into St Jacques at the head of the Champoluc valley. Here you will enjoy a cold beer at the Fior di Roccia before our minibus takes you back to Champoluc – an unforgettable day out for sure!!!
